The initial step of any engagement has to be getting an accurate baseline - a documented Current Operating Model. Many organisations struggle with producing one with the correct level of detail. Only then can a Target Operating Model be defined, and a plan be developed.

The future of IT is delivering platforms which other units can build upon and find new opportunities for the business, not simply being a cost sink. Understanding the role of data is key to that, and data generation, management and curation are things which not every organisation does well today.
